YEREVAN. – Construction work resumed in Komitas Avenue on Friday morning, director Tigran Khzmalyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.
However, later the workers left after local residents explained the situation.
Construction of a high-rise began a few years ago. As a result of numerous protests of local residents, construction was suspended. The works resumed two weeks ago, which persuaded residents to continue picketing. The rallies were accompanied by clashes with police. Several protestors were detained and suffered bodily injuries.
