YEREVAN. – A protest action staged by “Let’s liberate monument from an oligarch” initiative kicked off near the Closed Market in the center of Armenian capital.

Around 20 former workers said they had a meeting with market owner Samvel Aleksanyan several days ago. He promised to provide free of charge stalls, storage, weighing scales at the market as well as vehicles to transport the goods.

Talking to the Armenian News-NEWS.am correspondent, former workers of the Closed Market said they had visited the first floor of renovated building where agricultural products will be sold.

“Let’s liberate monument from an oligarch” opened a series of protest actions and pickets to halt illegal renovation of the Closed Market.
