YEREVAN. – Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian said Diaspora is a unique bridge connecting Armenia with the world, since two thirds of Armenians live outside the country.

Minister Nalbandian said Armenians themselves have a dual identity: they are entirely integrated in societies of countries which gave them shelter, but at the same time have deep roots with their national identity.

“In this respect, they [Armenians] are a unique bridge connecting Armenia with the world. Dialogue and respect for other cultures and religions is typical for Armenians. Located at the crossroads of cultures and religions, Armenia for centuries has been developing relationship with different civilizations. Our culture has been enriched as a result of communication,” he said, addressing participants of Yerevan-hosted conference on religious freedom.

Minister Nalbandian underscored necessity of building bridges between different nations, countries and religions.
