YEREVAN. – The statements on the Karabakh issue, which were adopted along the lines of the OSCE foreign ministers’ councils in the past five years, are in line with the position of Armenia.  

Foreign Affairs Minister Edward Nalbandian noted the aforesaid during his talk Monday with the students at the Faculty of International Relations of Yerevan State University.

Nalbandian also presented Armenia’s priorities as the current chairing country at the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers, and Armenia’s initiatives and steps toward raising the role of this organization.  

The FM also reflected on Armenia’s chairmanship at the Black Sea Economic Cooperation.  

In addition, Nalbandian expressed a deep concern over the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Syria and noted that the Syrian Armenians likewise are suffering as a result of this situation. He informed, however, that the Armenian authorities continue to carry out efforts, whose primary objective is to ensure the physical safety of Syrian Armenians and to preserve the Armenian historical and cultural heritage.     

Armenia’s FM also spoke on the Armenian-Russian allied relations, the country’s cooperation with the US, the EU and the neighboring countries, and reflected on Armenia’s expanding ties with numerous other countries.     

Furthermore, Edward Nalbandian informed that visits were paid to the capital cities of all UN Security Council permanent member countries, in the first half of this year, and important agreements were reached during these trips.
