YEREVAN. – The entire burden of constitutional reforms is on the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA).

RPA National Assembly Faction leader Galust Sahakyan stated the aforesaid during a press conference on Tuesday.

“There is a need for constitutional reforms [in the country]. [But] it is a long process. The Committee on Constitutional Reforms will collaborate with the political forces and the NGOs, alike [in this respect],” Sahakyan stated.

The RPA official stressed that as a result of the work to be carried out, a document will be submitted to the public and a referendum will be held.    

Galust Sahakyan highlighted, however, that he is against passing to a parliamentary system of governance because, in his view, this is very perilous for the state.
