YEREVAN. – Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian, who is in Brussels on a working visit, on Thursday met with Štefan Füle, European Union Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy.

The interlocutors discussed Armenia’s decision to join the Customs Union, informs the Armenian MFA press service.

Nalbandian reaffirmed Armenia’s willingness to push forward the cooperation with the European Union, and he stressed that the country wishes to continue the close partnership to the extent that this will be possible for EU and will not conflict with Armenia’s accession to the Customs Union.    

Nalbandian and Füle also discussed the preparations for the informal meeting of the FMs of the Eastern Partnership member countries, which will be held on September 12 and 13 in Armenia’s capital city Yerevan, and ahead of the Eastern Partnership summit to be held in Vilnius, Lithuania.

To note, Yerevan will simultaneously host the informal meeting of the education ministers of the Eastern Partnership member countries.      

Edward Nalbandian and Štefan Füle agreed to continue the intensive consultations between Armenia and the European Union.
