YEREVAN. – Ahead of the president’s remark on Customs Union, head of Armenian ruling party’s faction said we should not expect a sensation from Serh Sargsyan’s Moscow trip. Now when Armenian president’s stance has been revealed, Galust Sahakyan claims no sensation happened.

“Eurasian Union and Customs Union are completely different things. Armenia is interested in joining the Customs Union, whereas Eurasian Union lacks a clear program and we have nothing to discuss,” Sahakyan told a briefing on Monday.

Representative of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) recalled that back on December 12 last year, President Sargsyan indicated Armenia’s interest in joining the Customs Union. At the same time, Sahakyan said any relations between the states have positive and negative aspects.

Asked whether RPA members were aware of the statement that President issued in Moscow, Galust Sahakyan said all questions are being discussed with ruling party‘s leadership.

Sahakyan called “insulting” remarks made by Russian presidential advisor who said there is no difference between Armenia and Kaliningrad Region.

“Remember: nothing will be done to the prejudice of Armenia,” he emphasized.
