The documents concerning Armenia’s Customs Union membership will be ready in May 2014, when an agreement on the Eurasian Economic Union is planned to be signed.
Russian Federation (RF) Deputy PM Igor Shuvalov stated the aforesaid during Monday’s session of the RF Government.
“Analysts say that by formulating the draft agreement on the Eurasian Economic Union at the same time, we can reach an agreement with the candidates, too, so that the provisions of the first phase of integration can be agreed on in May of next year,” Shuvalov said, Prime news agency reports.
In turn commenting on Armenia’s wish to become a Customs Union member, RF PM Dmitry Medvedev stressed that, “We certainly welcome this intention of our Armenian partners.”
“We have close economic ties with Armenia, joint infrastructural projects are carried out, and membership in the Customs Union will offer additional opportunities to Armenia,” Medvedev added.
