YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) will be issued a license to export nuclear materials.
In the explanatory note, which the Energy and Natural Resources Ministry has submitted to the Government, it is sated that the NPP currently has seven fresh nuclear fuel compilations, which it had imported in 1979 and in 1987.
But these compilations had some flaws, and therefore it was impossible to use them. And the storage of these compilations causes some difficulties at the plant.
So, the Armenian NPP Company has signed a contract with TVEL Company of the Russian Federation (RF), with respect to transferring these compilations to RF.
The matter of permitting the issuance of a respective license is put on the agenda of Friday’s Armenian Cabinet meeting.
