YEREVAN. – There is an ideological connection between the Syrian events and clashes in one of the Alawi districts of Ankara, Russian political scientist Victor Nadein-Raevsky told Armenian News-NEWS.am.
He labeled developments in Syria as a “typical religious war.” He believes Sunni Turkey started a war against Alawi Syria.
“It was extremely rash act, as Turkey has a number of internal problems,” the expert emphasized.
Nadein-Raevsky said Alawites have been killed in Turkey since the beginning of war in Syria, while Turkey itself is faced with inter-religious conflict.
Clashes with police in Alawi-populated district of Ankara continue for the sixth day. The reason of clashes is an intention to build a Sunni mosque and an Alawi house (djemevi) at one site.
