YEREVAN. – “I inform you that this question should be directed to the Armenian authorities.” The European Union (EU) representation in Armenia gave such answer to Haykakan Zhamanak daily on Wednesday.
And the question was related to the EU donors’ conference, the daily reports.
“We had tried to clarify from the EU Office as to whether after [Armenian President] Serzh Sargsyan’s announcement made on September 3 in Moscow—and according to which Armenia intends to be a part of the Customs Union—the donors’ conference will be convened. And, if yes, when and where?
“We redirected the same question to the Armenian government, but with the additional question: If the conference will not be convened, why? Naturally, we did not receive a reply.
“The donors’ conference aimed at providing up to 1.5 billion euros to Armenia. The EU’s hint yesterday [i.e., Wednesday] is perhaps highly transparent. The conference will not be held at Armenia’s fault,” Haykakan Zhamanak writes.
