YEREVAN. – The USAID-funded Enterprise Development and Market Competitiveness (EDMC) Project and the American Chamber of Commerce in Armenia (AmCham) will hold a conference discussing the latest international developments in customs reform at the Erebuni Plaza Hotel on September 27.

The objective of the conference is to engage the business community in a dialogue about the application of customs international standards and “best practices” in Armenia based upon World Trade Organization and World Customs Organization agreements.

Participants will extend their knowledge of the newly drafted legislative package of amendments, developed within the Regulatory Guillotine Project, and review examples of successful customs reforms in other countries with comparable economies. A specific session will focus on authorized economic operators as a pro-business customs risk management tool.

US Ambassador to Armenia John Heffern, head of the State Revenue Committee Gagik Khachatryan, Deputy Finance Minister Suren Karayan, Edward Muradyan, President of American Chamber of Commerce in Armenia, representatives from Ministry of Economy and Ministry of Finance, National Centre for Legislative Regulation, USAID projects, banks and consulting companies, as well as small and medium enterprise will be present.
