YEREVAN. – Now is not the time to speak about who will assume the post of Prosecutor General.

Military Prosecutor Gevorg Kostanyan, who is nominated as the new Prosecutor General of Armenia, noted the aforesaid Friday during a briefing with news reporters. 

Kostanyan added that he does not know who will become the next Military Prosecutor.

According to 168.am, reflecting on his relations with former attorney general Aghvan Hovsepyan, Kostanyan stated that he respects him and this is due to a number of factors.

“Our relations have always been constructive and work-based,” he stressed.   

To note, President Serzh Sargsyan on Thursday nominated Military Prosecutor Gevorg Kostanyan’s candidacy as the new Prosecutor General of Armenia. Pursuant to Armenia’s law, the National Assembly appoints, with the President’s proposal, the Prosecutor General of the country for a six-year term. But the same person cannot be appointed Prosecutor General for more than two consecutive terms.
