YEREVAN. – The information, according to which Armenia’s opposition Heritage Party Chairman Raffi Hovannisian will relinquish his post as party leader, is inaccurate.

Heritage Party Board Secretary Styopa Safaryan, who is also member of the opposition “Barev [Hello], Yerevan” faction at capital city Yerevan Council of Elders, told Armenian News-NEWS.am that the party has not discussed such matter and he has not heard such rumors.

As for Heritage’s congress which was to be held in the fall, and during which—according to some media—the aforesaid matter likewise was to be discussed, Safaryan noted that the congress was postponed due to organizational issues.

“We had a planned congress, but we postponed [it]. Now, we have no urgent matter to discuss, we are not constrained by the laws, [and] we have not discussed when the congress will be held,” Styopa Safaryan stated.
