YEREVAN. – The Armenian parliament on Tuesday elected Gevorg Kostanyan for the position of a Prosecutor General with a vote of 103 for, 3 against. Gevorg Kostanyan was nominated by President Serzh Sargsyan.

Prior to the vote, Heritage and Armenian National Congress groups said they would vote against the candidate.

The Republican Party of Armenia and coalition partner Orinats Yerkir will vote for the candidate, while ARF said their members would vote as they wish.

Prosperous Armenia refrained from making comments.
