YEREVAN. – The raising of salaries in 2014 will be carried out in phases.
Armenian Government Chief of Staff-Minister Vache Gabrielyan stated the above-said during Wednesday’s question and answer session at the National Assembly (NA).
Before that, opposition ARF Dashnaktsutyun Party NA Faction member Aghvan Vardanyan had asked why the government’s proposal does not correspond with the President’s statement. To note, the President of Armenia had announced that the salaries in the country will increase as of January 1, 2014, whereas the government plans to implement this program as of July 1.
Gabrielyan responded that, on January 1, they will start increasing the wages of the power structures, and on July 1, the salaries of the entire system will start to be increased.
As per Government Chief of Staff-Minister, the government-proposed package assumes not solely an increase, but also an adjustment and a regulation of the salaries.
Vache Gabrielyan added that since they have substantially increased the minimum wage in July of the current year, a rapid increase in the salaries next January will create difficulties for businesses.
