YEREVAN. – Sub-committee on culture of Armenia’s Public Council opposes plans to demolish the round building of Zvartnots airport.

The building is in need of repair and can be used for regional flights, sub-committee member Anahit Tarkhanyan said during the Wednesday discussion.

She noted that the old building of Zvartnots can serve for the flights to Karabakh, Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Kazakhstan and Belarus.

Armenia International Airports, the company leasing territory of Zvartnots airport, wants to demolish the building, explaining it by lack of resources for renovation of the airport.
