YEREVAN. – Armenian army officer, Captain Gevorg Mnatsakanyan—who was born in 1988 and serving in the armed forces since 2005—sustained a fatal mine explosion wound and died as a result.

He sustained the fatal wound on Wednesday, at around 8:30pm, while carrying out a combat matter at the control area of a military unit stationed at the northeastern border of Armenia.      

In addition, Senior Lieutenant Garush Hambardzumyan—who is in average critical condition—, conscript, Private Narek Hakobyan—who is in satisfactory condition—, and conscript, Private Edgar Harutyunyan—who is in average critical condition—sustained wounds and were transferred to the MOD Central Garrison Military Hospital in capital city Yerevan, informs the MOD press service.    

An investigation is launched into the incident.
