The talks between the intelligentsia of Armenia and Azerbaijan may resume.

Ambassador Mikhail Shvidkoy, Russian Federation (RF) President’s special representative and RF MFA special envoy, told the above-said to Vesti.az.

“I hope that the leaders of the two countries will soon meet and return to the discussion of that key issue.

“It is possible to hold a meeting with the intelligentsia of the two countries. But I would very much like for that talk to be productive, and not a formality.   

“At the same time, the result of this meeting should be equal for both countries,” Shvidkoy noted.

In his view, however, it is impossible to evade the adverse reactions to such talks.  

“A great pain has accumulated. There will always be people who will call the discussants ‘traitors of the nation.’ [But] we have to think about the future. 

“Every war ends in peace, but this will be at the expense of the lives of numerous youth. Armenia and Azerbaijan do not have that many more children to sacrifice on the battlefield,” Mikhail Shvidkoy stressed.
