BAKU. – Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has agreed to meet with Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan.
OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair Igor Popov (Russia) told the aforesaid to journalists, reports APA news agency of Azerbaijan.
The co-chair said this was one of the issues discussed at Monday’s meeting with the Azerbaijani leader.
In his words, the next meeting of the two presidents is planned to be held by the end of the year.
“The co-chairs will leave for [Armenia’s capital city] Yerevan today [i.e., Monday]. They will discuss this issue with the President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan. A formal statement will be issued after this issue is discussed in Armenia. We hope that the meeting can be held by the end of the year,” Popov stated.
Asked about whether the meeting will be held within any event, the co-chair said that they are currently working on it.
