TBILISI. – Georgia’s former President Eduard Shevardnadze and outgoing President Mikheil Saakashvili will be invited to the inauguration ceremony of President-elect Giorgi Margvelashvili.   

Foreign Minister Maia Panjikidze stated the aforesaid.

“On October 27, we conducted [presidential] elections with European standards, [and] the inauguration likewise will be conducted with European standards,” Panjikidze added.  

In her words, the military component, too, will be on hand at the ceremony, Novosti Gruzia reports.

“[But] much less money will be spent on the inauguration of the new president,” the minister assured.  

To note, Giorgi Margvelashvili will formally swear into office on November 17.
