The mutual visits and the memorandum to be signed will contribute to the strengthening of economic and cultural ties between Gyumri, Armenia, and Nardò, Italy.    

Gyumri Mayor Samvel Balasanyan noted the aforesaid Wednesday at his talk with Mayor Marcello Risi of Nardò.  

At the start of the meeting Balasanyan presented details on Armenian-Italian cooperation in Gyumri. 

In turn, Risi noted that the spiritual protector of Nardò is Saint Gregory the Illuminator, and this fact makes Armenian-Italian relations become even warmer. The mayor of Nardò added that he is very impressed with Armenia, especially with the beauty of the City of Gyumri, and his Armenian colleagues’ determination to develop bilateral ties.     

Subsequently, the parties signed the memorandum of cooperation between Gyumri and Nardò.

After the signing ceremony Samvel Balasanyan and Marcello Risi held a joint news conference.
