YEREVAN. – The heads of the opposition ARF Dashnaktsutyun Party, Armenian National Congress bloc, and non-pro-government Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) National Assembly (NA) Factions held consultations on Tuesday.

They discussed their future courses of action following Monday’s NA ratification of the Armenia-Russia natural gas agreements.

ARF Dashnaktsutyun NA Faction head Armen Rustamyan told the aforesaid to reporters on Tuesday.

“We decided that our agenda of petitioning to the Constitutional Court [CC] [with respect to the constitutionality of the above-said ratification] will be kept. But there are steps that we can perform and which prepare that future course,” Rustamyan noted.

Speaking on Monday’s development in the parliament, the ARF Faction head said the voting and the respective decision are unlawful, and therefore the abovementioned agreements were not validated.

For her part, and commenting on ruling Republican Party MP Davit Harutyunyan’s claim that the voting was legitimate, PAP NA Faction Secretary Naira Zohrabyan specifically stated:

“When the authorities face a difficult situation, they turn to one of the rare intellectuals among them. Davit Harutyunyan is attempting to save the face of the illegitimacy that was conducted. [But] it will not be successful. There is a clear law, there is the Constitution, there is the law on the CC, [and] there is the law that regulates the NA activities; that is, the NA Regulation Law, which has been broken.”
