Facebook profiles of Azerbaijani officials and public figures were cracked.

The accounts of active users were recently deleted or closed, while network access for some users was limited, Turan news agency reports.

Yeni Musavat Newspaper reporter Feraim Ilgar oglu failed to sign in to his profile several days ago. Turan quotes the reporter as saying, “My page was closed on April 18 morning. Unknown who placed on his site ruling Yeni Azerbaijan Party’ logo warned me that my page will be erased. We argued, and after that I found my profile closed. I applied to Facebook administration.”

According to the source, another Azerbaijani reporter Fahraddin Hajibeyli, who is a political emigrant in Germany, stated that whole information in his account was deleted several days ago and he could not find his articles. “He considers that it was done by people who debated with him,” Turan reports.

People say that Facebook profiles are cracked on the threshold of parliamentary elections, mainly the accounts of public and political figures.

Within last three months, the number of Facebook users in Azerbaijan increased up to 30.000 and totals 140.760, Facebook Statistics reports.
