Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Nils Muiznieks has arrived in Armenia.

“Just started a 5-day visit to Armenia to focus on the administration of justice, women’s rights, and gender equality. I will be meeting Ministers, Parliamentarians, judicial authorities, national human rights structures and representatives of NGOs active in the field,” he wrote on Facebook.

On Thursday the Commissioner will issue a press release with the preliminary findings of my visit.

Later Muiznieks wrote he held several interesting meetings with NGOs to discuss human rights in the justice system and in the army, as well as women’s rights and gender equality issues.

“ I also met judges and defence lawyers to discuss issues pertaining to the functioning of the judiciary”.
