YEREVAN. – In 2015, official Ankara will increase its funding to the campaign for denying the Armenian Genocide, which occurred in the Ottoman Empire.

Armenia’s opposition Orinats Yerkir (Rule of Law) National Assembly Faction Secretary Mher Shahgeldyan told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

In the MP’s words, two important processes are currently taking place in Turkey. On the one hand, there is an eruption of nationalism led by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and on the other hand, there is a growing number of people among the Turkish society who speak about the Armenian Genocide as a historical fact.

“They are the intelligentsia representatives who have received a European education,” Shahgeldyan added.

He also did not rule out the possibility that some Turkish officials will arrive in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan on April 24, 2015, which is the centenary of the genocide, but, in Mher Shahgeldyan’s view, this will not at all stop the increased Turkish funding for the anti-Armenian propaganda.
