YEREVAN. – Armenia’s membership in the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) is a loss of security, since this accession deprives the country from the right to conduct talks with the alternative camp.

Opposition Free Democrats Party Vice-Chairwoman Anush Sedrakyan stated the abovementioned at a press conference on Monday.

In her conviction, Armenia will receive neither financial nor political benefits from the Russia-led EEU.

“This is apparent, since we [, Armenia,] don’t have a subsidy because Russia is unable to provide subsidy to any country.

“We have found ourselves in the Turkish-speaking camp [i.e., Kazakhstan, Turkey, and Azerbaijan, which provide political support to one another]. Naturally, they put pressure on us, and they will continue to do so.

“And in these circumstances, we don’t even have a chance to appeal to the international community, since we haven’t kept our promises,” Sedrakyan noted.

In January 2015, Armenia became a full member in the Eurasian Economic Union, which includes Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan.
