The Turkish court made an unexpected decision with respect to the case involving Istanbul-Armenian soldier Sevag Sahin Balikci, who was killed, on April 24, 2011, by a fellow soldier, and while serving in the Turkish army.
Balikci’s family had disagreed with the court judgment on the defendant, and appealed this ruling, according to which Sevag had died as a result of negligence by the defendant, reported Demokrathaber website of Turkey.
But the Military Court of Cassation had overturned the decision and sent the case to the court for review. Subsequently, the court decided to review the case from scratch.
The next court hearing on this case is slated for February 27.
Sevag’s parents argue that their son was killed for being Armenian.
