A newspaper of Azerbaijani parliament published an article slamming U.S. President Barack Obama.
The article titled “Two faces of Obama” says Obama did not meet expectations and broke the campaign promises, haqqin.az reported.
It is noteworthy that the article came a day after New York Times published an editorial article titled “The Two Faces of Azerbaijan's Mr. Aliyev”.
The authors of “Azerbaijan” newspaper claim that Obama is carrying out “a double-faced policy”, and the United States do not keep the promise of protecting allies.
“Thanks to the efforts of the U.S. and allies, rich former Soviet republic [Ukraine] is in a state of civil war,” the authors say.
The article suggests that relations between Washington and Baku deteriorated under Obama's rule. Since taking the office, Obama did nothing to support Azerbaijan.
As regards Karabakh, U.S. showed double standards at the state level, which was manifested in the failure of Obama to approve Bryza as an ambassador to Baku.
“Some circles in the U.S. sought to carry out scenarios for change of power in Azerbaijan. Media and NGOs strengthen US campaign of black PR against Baku,” the article reads.
The authors of the article explain these actions by the fact that Aliyev offended Obama, and the latter cannot excuse the Azerbaijani leader.
In 2009, Obama invited President Ilham Aliyev to Istanbul to persuade him to agree to the opening of Turkish-Armenian border, “but strong will of Ilham Aliyev disrupted these evil plans, and he refused to go”.
“Apparently, Obama still can not forgive this insult,” the authors explain.
