YEREVAN. – Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian on Thursday received the State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, Minoru Kiuchi, who is in Armenia for the launch of the activities of the Embassy of Japan in Yerevan.
Nalbandian highly appreciated the Japanese government’s decision to found an embassy in Armenia’s capital city, and, as per the FM, this embassy will further develop Armenia-Japan relations.
Kiuchi, for his part, noted that Japan underscores the development of relations with Armenia, and this is why it was decided to open a Japanese embassy in Yerevan. He also conveyed the Japanese government’s condolences on the recent tragedy in Armenia’s Gyumri city, where an entire family was brutally killed.
Subsequently, the interlocutors discussed the avenues for invigorating the collaboration between Armenia and Japan.
Minister Nalbandian also thanked Japan for its continuous assistance in Armenia’s development and stressed the importance of this support.
In addition, they exchanged views on several urgent regional and international matters. In this context, Edward Nalbandian briefed Minoru Kiuchi on the ongoing efforts, by Armenia and the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing countries, to achieve a pacific settlement to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
