City council of Burjasot, a city in Spain, approved a motion recognizing Armenian Genocide and condemning this crime against humanity.
The motion presented by Compromis party said 2015 marks the centennial of the Armenian Genocide that is considered the first genocide of twentieth century.
“Massacres and deportations of Armenians occurred in 1915-1921 in the territory of today's Tukrey, in particular under the rule of Young Turks regime. The massacres resulted in killings of 1.5 million Armenians, another 2 million were forced to leave their homes and created large Armenian Diaspora,” the motion said.
