YEREVAN. – The British Embassy is very concerned by the incidents on the Line of Contact and the international border since the beginning of the year, Ambassador Katherine Leach said in response to the Armenian News-NEWS.am inquiry.

“So many young servicemen have already tragically lost their lives, or have sustained injuries, in 2015. This continues the trend we have seen over the past year of greater levels of ceasefire violations and fatalities,” Ambassador Leach said.

The diplomat reiterated expressed strong support for the statement by the OSCE co-chairs on 27 January in Krakow which urged the sides to abide by the terms of the ceasefire, called on Azerbaijan to observe its commitment to a peaceful solution and called on Armenia to take all measures to reduce tensions.

“It is important that the international community repeats this message and presses further on confidence building measures. There is no alternative to a peaceful solution,” Ambassador added.
