YEREVAN. – On February 8, Armenia’s Ambassador to Sweden, Artak Apitonian, attended as the main guest and addressed at an evening event organized by the Association of Assyrians in Sweden, and devoted to Assyrian classical writer and public figure Naum Faiq.

In his remarks, Ambassador Apitonian reflected on Armenian-Assyrian ties, presented information the Assyrians living in Armenia today, and spoke about the collaboration between the two communities in the diaspora, the Armenia MFA press service informed.

The main part of the diplomat’s remarks was devoted to the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide. In this connection, the ambassador stressed that the absence of a proper legal assessment of the 1915 genocide creates appropriate conditions today for the perpetration of such crimes against humanity. He added that Armenia will continue its international campaign toward the recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide.
