The Moscow Municipal Court has upheld the decision on setting house arrest as the restraining order for Russian-Armenian businessman Levon Hayrapetyan, who is under house arrest in the Russian capital city, reported RIA Novosti news agency of Russia.

The court also overruled the Hayrapetyan attorney’s motion to release the businessman from house arrest, and due to his deteriorating health.

“My client is willing to collaborate with the investigation, if they reduce the extent of the restraining order by a signature [bond] of not to leave the country, or to mandatorily show up [when necessary],” the attorney had stressed.

Levon Hayrapetyan was detained in a Moscow airport on July 15, 2014, and subsequently arrested. On July 24 of the same year, the Russian Federation Investigation Committee brought two criminal charges against him: embezzlement or misuse, and money laundering. On September 12, 2014, the Russian-Armenian businessman was charged with fraud, too. On October 3 of the same year, however, a Moscow district court ruled in favor of releasing Hayrapetyan from prison and placing him under house arrest. Even though Levon Hayrapetyan has health problems, he was kept in prison for a long time. On December 10, 2014, Hayrapetyan’s pre-trial detention period was extended for four more months, until April 15 of the current year.
