YEREVAN. – The United States’ (US) new Ambassador to Armenia, Richard Mills, on Thursday presented a copy of his credentials to Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian.

Congratulating the ambassador on his appointment, Nalbandian gave a high assessment to the Armenian-American partnership, and expressed the hope that Mills will bring his important contribution to the further strengthening and expansion of bilateral relations, the Armenia MFA press service informed.

The newly appointed ambassador, for his part, said it is a great honor for him to represent the US in Armenia, and assured that he will do his utmost to move the collaboration forward. In addition, the American diplomat conveyed to the Armenian FM the greetings and best wishes by US Secretary of State John Kerry.

Subsequently, the interlocutors exchanged views on the agenda issues of bilateral relations.

Minister Nalbandian noted that ever since Armenia’s independence in 1991, the US has substantially assisted in Armenia’s development and the ongoing reforms in the country.

Edward Nalbandian and Richard Mills also explored the avenues for the expansion of bilateral trade and economic relations.

The FM informed the US ambassador that the MFA will be assisting him in carrying out his diplomatic mission in Armenia.
