YEREVAN. – Pursuant to the Law on Population Employment, the Armenian citizens with an immigration ban are individuals at risk, and therefore they benefit from the priorities of social services.

The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Artem Asatryan, told the aforementioned to reporters on Thursday.

“They are included in the state employment programs including learning, retraining. It is planned to include the people with immigration risks in the active employment programs, too,” the minister added.

To note, several dozen Armenian citizens, who are protesting against the entry ban which Russia has imposed, on Thursday assembled outside the Government Building. They are asking the government to help solve their respective problems.

Ever since 2014, Russia has toughened its control on the foreign citizens’ abiding by the country’s immigration laws. As a result, and depending on the types of violations of these laws, a ban—for up to ten years—on entry to Russia is specified for foreign nationals. According to Russian sources, this ban is applicable for about three million people, whose 50 to 60 thousand may be Armenian citizens.
