YEREVAN. – The United States is fully supportive of the OSCE Minsk Group efforts as the best mechanism to reach involution the Karabakh conflict, U.S. Ambassador Richard Mills said.

However, the Minsk Group process is a mediatory process, they cannot impose a solution, he added.

Mills emphasized that the negotiation process cannot be based on violence or war.

“We are deeply concerned over the escalation of tension,” Mills said during his first press conference in Yerevan.

According to him, the United States and OSCE Minsk Group will condemn any violence which contradicts parties' commitments.

“The United States have relations with Azerbaijan and with Armenia. We are clear with our friends that there only can be a peaceful solution,” he added.
