WASHINGTON, DC. – Armenia's Ambassador to U.S. Tigran Sargsyan on Wednesday met with founder of the American Yezidi Center Dahil Shamo and chairman of the Shangal union of Yezidis Amo Shamoyan who is on a working visit to Washington
Ambassador Sargsyan praised the Armenian-Yezidi centuries-old friendship, as well as the contribution of the Yezidi community to the socio-economic development of Armenia. He noted that the Yezidi community had always played an active role in the political, social and cultural life of Armenia.
The sides discussed issues related to the development and strengthening of relations between Armenian and Yezidi community and national structures, organization of joint commemorative events over the Armenian Genocide Centennial. They also touched upon the problem of ethnic and religious minorities amid the developments in the Middle East.
