The mayor of Turkey’s Bayburt (historically, Baberd), Mete Memis, called “heroism” the deeds by the Turkish soldiers who had massacred the Armenians.

Memis made a congratulatory statement on the 97th anniversary of Bayburt’s capture from the Armenians, and claimed that, 97 years ago, the Turkish soldiers in Bayburt had written their name in history for defending the “homeland,” reported Haberler website of Turkey.

The Turkish mayor claimed that on February 21, 1918, the Turkish soldiers had conducted heroism and “liberated” Bayburt from the Armenian “violence.”
