YEREVAN. – The draft decision on the impeachment of President Serzh Sargsyan does not contradict the presumption of innocence.
The person behind this draft, opposition Armenian National Congress National Assembly (NA) Faction member Nikol Pashinyan, who is also a member of the Civil Accord initiative, stated the abovementioned in the parliament on Monday.
In his words, this draft will be put to an NA vote very soon, albeit there is no hope of success for clear reasons; that is, the ruling parliamentary majority will vote against it.
“The draft presents charges against Serzh Sargsyan pursuant to the law. (…) it contains solely the facts that are known to everyone, [and] which just need to be checked.
“I formally declare: The Armenia which we, the Civil Accord members, strive for is a country of unconditional equality for everyone before the law,” Pashinyan said, in particular.
