YEREVAN. – Parliamentary form of government is a disaster for Armenia: this will lead to the destruction of the country, political scientist Levon Shirinyan believes.

Armenia, in his opinion, needs to adopt the model of Taiwan which semi-presidential form of government. Speaking about the process of constitutional reforms, Shirinyan expressed confidence that democratization of the country has no relation to the form of government.

“If the task of constitutional reform is not to ensure independence of judiciary, the rest is a bluff,” Shirinyan told reporters on Saturday.

Parliamentary form of government requires presence of successful political parties, therefore, this form of government will not be beneficial for Armenia, he added.
