YEREVAN. – The President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, on Wednesday received the European Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn.

The President considered the dialogue with European partners a good opportunity for discussing the prospects for development of Armenia-European Union (EU) relations, and exchanging views on the issues of mutual concern, informed the Press Office of the President.

The European commissioner, for his part, stressed that he greatly appreciates the discourse and cooperation between Armenia and its European partners.

In turn, Sargsyan considered collaboration within the framework of the European Neighbourhood Policy to be useful in terms of promoting reforms in Armenia.  

And Hahn noted that the previous round of negotiations, which were conducted with Armenia along the lines of the EU Eastern Partnership, were not wasted efforts, and they were useful for visualizing the expectations and defined criteria, and also the avenues for being competitive in the European market.     

Serzh Sargsyan and Johannes Hahn also exchanged views on regional issues and challenges, and the latest developments in the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process.
