YEREVAN. – Ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) National Assembly Faction Secretary Gagik Melikyan welcomes President Serzh Sargsyan’s recent discussions with several political forces, and with respect to constitutional reforms.

“I believe that we will see the political forces’ viewpoints in the new Constitution. The forces even criticizing is likewise participation, a view,” Melikyan told reporters on Thursday. “The political forces can submit their proposals on constitutional reforms until May 5.”

In his words, even though the concept paper on constitutional amendments contains a proposal for transitioning to a parliamentary system of government, these reforms do not solely mean a change in the system of governance.

And to the journalists’ remark about the rumors that the number of Armenia’s MPs will reduce after the constitutional amendments, the RPA deputy responded: “It’s not ruled out; it is possible.”
