YEREVAN. – The European Union is by far the largest financial donor in Armenia, Mr Adriano Martins, Deputy Head of division at the European External Action Service, said on Thursday at the session of the EU-Armenia Parliamentary Cooperation Committee in Yerevan.

He reminded, that under the Single Support Framework for support to Armenia, the EU pledged to donate between 140 and 170 million euros before the end of 2017.

“These are not loans, but grants for technical assistance. This means we appreciate our partnership with Armenia and mean to keep it going,” he said.

The EU is open to tighten economic relations with Armenia, although in a different modality than the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement, given the Eurasian integration of Yerevan, Martins added.
