YEREVAN. – Armenia and Azerbaijan share a lot of items on their agenda of cooperation with the EU, Mr Sajjad Karim, Co-Chair of the EU-Armenia Parliamentary Cooperation Committee (member of the UK Conservative party), told the media in Yerevan on Friday.

“Many of the issues in relation to human rights, rule of law, all the sorts of things I’ve described in terms of discussions we’ve had in Armenia, are also on the table with Azerbaijan,” he said on the conclusion of the 2-day session of the committee. .

What is important is to concentrate on the bilateral relationship that the two sides have enhanced in the course of the last two days, Karim added.

“In the EU, you have a partner, you have a union that genuinely wants to walk hand in hand with Armenia, to invest in our shared values, to encourage Armenia to move in a direction that is open, free, fair, with a democratic system and an independent judiciary – all of the things that we in Europe like to say are European values, but my Armenian fiends have been reminding me, and quite rightly so, that Armenia is Europe also,” he concluded.
