YEREVAN. – The signing of a document between Armenia and the European Union (EU) will be beneficial for Armenia, the EU, and the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU).
“Alternative” Research Center Director, economist Tatul Manaseryan, stated the aforementioned at Monday’s Yerevan-Moscow live TV link, and devoted to the matter of creating a single currency for the EEU.
Manaseryan said this while reflecting on the expectations from the EU Eastern Partnership summit to be held in May in the Latvian capital city of Riga.
As per the economist, Armenia faces an artificial selection between the EU and EEU.
“The EEU member countries, including Armenia and Russia, are World Trade Organization members. That’s why, in my opinion, this selection is artificial,” Manaseryan noted. “Both Moscow and Brussels clearly understand that Armenia can develop its relations with individual countries.”
He added, however, that since it is still unclear what document will be signed in Riga, hasty conclusions should not be drawn.
