YEREVAN. – The statements by President Erdogan-led Turkish establishment are impudence.

Armenian National Assembly (NA) Vice President Eduard Sharmazanov stated the aforesaid in the parliament on Monday, as he introduced the NA draft resolution on the Greek and Assyrian genocides in the Ottoman Empire.

“According to the Greek Patriarchate [in Constantinople], 284 thousand Greeks were either killed or driven out before the start of the First World War,” he noted.

The NA deputy speaker added that the first Assyrian massacres in the Ottoman Empire had occurred between 1895 and 1896, during the reign of Sultan Abdul Hamid II.

“According to the Assyrian Patriarchate data, 250 to 300 thousand Assyrians died as a result of the genocide,” Eduard Sharmazanov also stated.
