YEREVAN. - The question of recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide has a strategic meaning – the problem relates to the restoration of our rights, Heritage party leader Raffi Hovannisian told Armenian News – NEWS.am on April 2 during the discussion on the topic of “The Occupation of Armenian Territories by the Turkish Republic and Condemnation for Depriving the Armenian Nation of its Home Country.”   

As to the credibility of the draft bill named “The Occupation of Armenian territories by the Turkish Republic and condemnation for depriving the Armenian nation of its home country,” proposed by the MP Zaruhi Postanjyan, Raffi Hovannisian said: “The oddest thing is that Azerbaijan and Turkey use the word “occupation” on international platforms with regard to Armenia. But we have the right to speak about Turkish and Azerbaijani occupation, not to show that we can respond to them, but to say that we have a right to home country. We should stick to this objective by all possible means – public, analytical, and, why not, legislative.”
