Catholicos of the Holy See of Cilicia of the Armenian Apostolic Church sent a letter of gratitude to the Cyprus President and Head of Parliament on the occasion of the adoption by the Republic of Cyprus Parliament of a draft bill criminalizing the denial of the Armenian Genocide, as reported to Armenian News – NEWS.am.
“It is with great happiness that we have learnt that the Parliament of the Republic of Cyprus unanimously made a historical decision on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, supporting the draft bill criminalizing the denial of the Armenian Genocide. We will indeed never forget that in 1975 Cyprus Parliament was the second one in the world to officially recognize the Armenian Genocide.
With this regard we would like to express our deepest gratitude and appreciation to the Parliament of Cyprus for this bold historical decision, which shows the apparent commitment of the Republic of Cyprus to justice and human rights”, Aram I wrote in his Facebook page.
