YEREVAN. - Currently around 120 inclusive schools operate in Armenia, Armenia’s Minister of Education told Armenian News – NEWS.am on Friday.

According to him, the inclusiveness principle was introduced into the field of education in the course of many years. “Armenian Parliament has adopted a new law which is revolutionary and unprecedented in terms of its content even in many countries of Eastern Europe. By means of that law we want to introduce the principle of universal inclusiveness,” said Mr Ashotyan.

This means that the number of the so-called special schools is to gradually decrease in Armenia. “Unfortunately, it is impossible to fully stop the operation of these institutions, so we will have to retain 1-2 of these special schools,” the Minister said, adding that last year the draft bill on the inclusive education in Armenia was bestowed one of the best UNESCO awards.
